With the war officially begun,House of the Dragonwill only grow more bloody.
The scene is tragic in a number of ways, but it gives the character a heroic death.
Rhaenys volunteers herself, noting her dragon’s size and experience.
So, she flies out, but she doesn’t know the danger she faces.
Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Sunfyre challenge her first.
Though she didn’t anticipate fighting a dragon, Rhaenys unflinchingly orders Meleys to attack.
The reign of House Targaryen begins with this prequel to the popular HBO seriesGame of Thrones.Based on George R.R. Martin’sFire & Blood,House of the Dragonis set nearly 200 years beforeGame of Thrones, telling the story of the Targaryen civil war with King Viserys.
Meleys and Rhaenys prove themselves against Sunfyre, quickly wounding the other dragon and unrelentingly attacking.
But the appearance ofAemond (Ewan Mitchell)and Vhagar takes away her advantage.
Several times the size of Meleys, Vhagar is a more substantial threat.
The author loves a lot about the show, but not this.
But that tragedy didn’t spell ruin for their cause.
Arrax was so young and small that he stood no chance in battle.
Yet Meleys is different.
Rhaenys and Meleys' deaths serve as a warning to the Blacks, showing them what they are facing.
Only Rhaenys saw Rhaenyra’s concerns andconvinced her to seek a peaceful resolutionwith Alicent (Olivia Cooke).
Her wisdom will be missed as much as her dragon.
But, though she is gone, she leaves behind a considerable impact.
