27 years later, our favorite big red dog made his first appearance at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
He left the Parade for four years, and returned in 2000.
His large float came, however, with problems.
After 15 years of near-misses, Woody Woodpecker was retired in 1996.
Smokey’s balloon wasn’t seen again for over two decades until his comeback in 2019.
Harold has remained in the parade every single year up until his retirement in 2017.
