After a number of ups and downs, we have our final eight contenders.

Regardless, Academy voters went for the feel-good drama hard, nominating it for five Oscars in total.

The reason it’s a frontrunner contender has to do with precedent, mostly.

But the PGA isn’t the only trophyGreen Bookhas.

The major knock againstGreen Bookwinning Best Picture is that it’s a divisive film.

The other major contender to pull off the W, to my mind, isRoma.

And yet the artistry of the film is undeniable, and it scored a whopping 10 Oscar nominations.

IfGreen Bookis this year’sLa La Landa commercial, love it/hate it hitthenRomacould certainly be this year’sMoonlight.

And we all know how that turned out.

it’s possible not all Academy voters will venture to actuallywatchthe movie.

Plus,tonsof Oscar voters themselves are now working or have worked on a Netflix movie at this point.

And yet, that one unique instance wasBirdmananother formally ambitious filmand statistical rules were made to be broken.

So yeah, at this point I think eitherRomaorGreen Bookis your Best Picture winner.

Still, you never know.

Last but not least, there’sBohemian Rhapsody.
