As such,they contributed the least of all of Sauron’s human allies.
There, they established new kingdoms, pledged fidelity to Sauron, and waged several wars against the West.
They are also the most iconic thanks to their signature war beasts, the massive elephants known as Mumakil.

Tolkien created the orc asa representation of the evils of warfareand how it can devolve people into monstrous states.
For this, he was made Lieutenant of Sauron’s fortress, Barad-dur, and made Sauron’s emissary.
Thus, Saruman became one of Sauron’s key allies in spreading his control throughout Middle-earth.

In time, they ended up trapped in a state of undeath, becoming the Nazgul or Ringwraiths.
Their deathless nature also meant that the Ninecould return to life even if their bodies were destroyed.
So great was his power thatit was believed no living man could kill him.
