Theres no denying thatInfinity Warisa lot.
And while youre on the ride, it can be loads of fun.
And yetInfinity Waris like a hollow planet.

It sucks everything into its orbit, and yet theres nothing on the inside.
These combos result in terrific banter that is unique toInfinity War.
Its a joy to watch characters weve enjoyed in some movies interact with characters weve enjoyed in other movies.

Thanos knows hes doing something horrible, but believes he has the will to see it through.
But where Thanos has resolve, his movie lacks the will to see its ambitions through.
And yet this bulk ultimately works against the movie because we cant really follow anyone through.

For example, take Vision (Paul Bettany) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
Their love is important to the plot, but completely without emotion or definition.
They are technically in love, so there can be no emotional payoff for their story.

I dont know what Captain Americas (Chris Evans) arc is in this movie.
I dont know what Iron Mans arc is.
The movie pulls in a bunch of characters and doesnt really move any of them forward.

For all the sturm und drang, the themes ofInfinity Warare ill-defined.
Theres very little room for human relationships or just pausing to breathe.
Another problem is that this is half a story.
Im a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I like re-watching most of the movies in it.
I like the characters.
I like the way they interact with each other.
AndInfinity Warputs them all in one place.
